Going through the photos of John and Lucy, Matthew and Laurie, taken over the years - on holiday, at celebrations, I was reminded again of just how much sheer pleasure John took in the life he had with you all. Whether on the beach, in the kitchen washing up, returning from the garden, listening to 'Sounds of the 60s', cooking, even watching TV with wry, dry, comment, I realised I actually never saw him without that quiet amused smile. It seemed to radiate from the happy place that being with Lucy and 'the boys' created for him. Lucy's gift to John, a deep, secure love and two lovely, lively, young men. I will miss his wry smile.
